NHS 111 RECRUITMENTFOR OUR WAKEFIELD CALL CENTRE

Are you looking for a new opportunity, a change of career?

We have a variety of full and part time rota patterns and can now offer both full and part time training. This really is an exciting time for you to be part of the NHS 111 team. Full time training courses are planned for September and October 2023

111 Health Advisors are highly trained to assess and negotiate to ensure the best patient care and outcome - no two calls will be the same. We work around the clock receiving 111 calls from patients who need our help and advice. It is an incredibly rewarding role that allows you to really make a difference to our patients lives.

The role will be demanding, and this role may not be for everyone, you will be dealing with a wide variety of patients including some very emotional situations. Successful candidates are required to have the skills to deal with the variety of patient calls in a compassionate, professional way. You will also use your strong customer service skills to deal with complex, sensitive, and sometimes distressing information to ensure the right level of appropriate care for our patients is sought.

You do not need any experience in healthcare as full comprehensive training will be provided, however you do need to be dedicated to caring for all our patients and be able to work out of hours as this is essential.

This is an exciting opportunity to join one of Yorkshires most successful and innovative 111/Integrated Urgent Care Providers (IUC). At Yorkshire Ambulance Service you will become part of a highly skilled and dynamic team based in the heart of Yorkshire and home to one of the UK’s most diverse communities. We are committed to staff development, and you will be presented with the opportunities to train and develop across the 111/IUC Service.

We require a minimum of three GCSE’s at Grade C or above (or equivalent) including English or you can demonstrate your customer service experience with strong communication and IT skills. If you are already NHS Pathways trained and your license is up to date this would be an advantage.

You will be expected to work six out of eight public holidays as well as three weekends out of four.

In addition to the attractive salary, our offer includes unsocial payments where appropriate under Section 2 of the NHS Terms and Conditions (excerpt below), an attractive NHS Pension, a generous holiday allowance as well as ongoing training and support for your continual professional development and progression.

Unsocial hours payments

All time on Saturday (midnight to midnight) and any week day after 8 pm and before 6 am:
  • Time plus 30%
All time on Sundays and Public Holidays (midnight to midnight):
  • Time plus 60%
We have vacancies at our Wakefield Call Centre on a mixed rota pattern covering 24/7, please be aware 70% of the rostered hours will be out of hours (after 8pm and weekends).

For more information on the rota patterns we operate, please see the attached guidance document to help understand this better.

You can expect to get the best paid training and support as a part of the YAS family, access to development opportunities, competitive pay with out of hours enhancements (paid in addition to the salary listed), NHS Pension and other NHS money saving benefits for example, access to discounts in over 200 stores, days outs and restaurants by signing up to a Blue Light card.

Our values: Compassion, One Team, Integrity, Innovation, EmpowermentandResilienceare at the heart of all we do.

Training

NHS 111 Health Advisors undertake an 11 week full time training course which will include classroom training with assessments and exams which you will need to pass before being signed off as a competent NHS 111 Health Advisor.

The full time training takes place in our Wakefield call centre and our Part time training has a combination of virtual and classroom training.

Please note, we ask that those who are successful at interview commit to 100% attendance on the initial training course.
