Java Developer

Excellent opportunity for a Java Software Developer at Sharp’s European HQ near Uxbridge

You will play a key role in the backend development of software solutions developed by our European Solutions Business Centre.

Hybrid working - office and home working

Key Responsibilities:

• Working as part of an Agile development team to bring new features and functions to Sharp software solutions
• Development of backend code in Java
• Support and input of software architecture design
• Develop PoC code for feature advancement or tender requests
• Update user documentation on new features
• Update localisation resources for new features
• Assist in evaluation or quality assurance activities to maintain software quality
• Participate in, and facilitate Agile ceremonies
• Participate and assist in development planning activities

Experience / Qualifications

Essential:

• Several years’ experience in software development with strong Java skills
• Demonstrable experience of backend programming with Java, PostgreSQL and Rest APIs
• Good experience with software design patterns such as MVC, Singleton, Factory, Publish/Subscribe
• Excellent collaboration, analytical and communication skills
• Clear communication in the English language, both spoken and written; with a technical emphasis.

Desirable:

• Experience working in an agile development team
• SOAP and WDSL
• Programming in C#
• Web languages such as HTML, CSS, Java
• Javascript libraries such as React, Vue, Angular
• Azure knowledge
• Experience with GIT
• Working with virtual images would be an advantage
• Previous setting up of operating systems on servers
• Working knowledge of Wireshark network trace PHP, SQL, PostgreSQL
• Strong knowledge of TCP/IP and SSL/TSL
• PJL/PCL/Postscript
• Experience in working with virtual images
