The Global Prioritisation Exercise (GPE) for Humanitarian Research and Innovation is Elrha's newest strategic programme that aims to increase the impact of humanitarian research and innovation investments for communities affected by crises. We are looking to recruit a Production and Editorial Officer to join our team on a fixed term contract for 5months from 1st August 2023.

Do you have an eye for detail and a flair for writing? Do you excel at editing, proofreading, and enhancing complex information? Are you seeking to develop your production management skills in a friendly, supportive environment, focused on creating positive change in the humanitarian sector? Working closely with our Communications team, in this role you will have the opportunity to independently manage and develop written materials and in-house content focused on humanitarian research and innovation, while ensuring Elrha's high standards on quality, readability and accessibility.

Your application will need to demonstrate:

    • Experience of copy-editing authored/published reports or similar, to improve accessibility, clarity and engagement.
    • Excellent editorial and project management skills to submit work to deadline and to budget.
    • An understanding of production and design processes to facilitate the publication of high-quality reports.
    • Proven ability to communicate complex or programmatic language into strong, accessible copy for a range of audiences in English.
    • Experience of building and maintaining relationships with external and internal stakeholders and teams.
    • An interest in the humanitarian or development sectors, demonstrated through academic qualifications and/or paid or voluntary work.

Experience of copy-editing products relevant to humanitarian work would be an advantage.

Please note that short-listed candidates will be asked to complete a practical written assessment to inform selections for interview. Interviews will be held week commencing 3rd July 2023

If want to be part of an organisation that creates positive change in the humanitarian sector, then join us and we'll give you every opportunity to succeed. Please ensure you complete the personal statement as part of the application process to explain how you feel you meet the requirements of the role and why you feel this is next career move for you. Please note that we will assess your communication skills on the quality of your personal statement and CV as well as any presented achievements.
