Overview:

We are now looking for an eager candidate to join us as an apprentice. You will have the opportunity to gain valuable skills, knowledge and experience as you complete a Level 4 DevOps Engineer Apprenticeship.

The Role:

  • Involvement in all aspects of business intelligence, infrastructure and systems
  • Access to Microsoft Azure and Power Platform resources to build required applications and business processes
  • Develop both application and web-based solutions, utilizing Microsoft services
  • Develop your understanding of relational databases, SQL syntax and data structure
  • Methodically test new software features, and identify bugs
  • Document features and write support guides to assist end users and partners
  • Give estimates of time, and develop features within agreed timescales maintaining quality standards
  • Web Service/API development using SOAP or REST

Key responsibilities:

  • The IT Technician will be the onsite contact for any end user support that requires a physical presence, the initial triage will be completed by an external helpdesk.
  • Installing, configuring and maintaining software and hardware components of computer and network systems.
  • Diagnosing and troubleshooting software & hardware issues, escalating where necessary.
  • Ensuring the security of client and server computers by ensuring antivirus, security patches and policies are adhered to.
  • Maintaining and updating technical documentation regularly.
  • Auditing devices and licensing to ensure accurate records are maintained.
  • Testing new hardware and software before full-scale installation.
  • Assisting with any project related tasks.

What we are looking for:

The requirements listed below are considered to either be essential to successfully undertake the duties and responsibilities of the post or are considered highly desirable.

Technical skills:

  • Use knowledge of programming to build business processes, troubleshoot issues, carry out applicable change requests.
  • Microsoft Azure platforms – basic navigation, setup and configuration.
  • Website Domain & DNS Management, with basic understanding of HTML, CSS and general web development
  • Basic understanding of SQL and databases.
  • Able to advise on using data ethically.
  • Input on security for web applications, software and processes
  • Microsoft Power Automate and power platform experience

Entry requirements:

  • Level 3 Software apprenticeship
  • OR A-Level in a STEM subject (in Technology and Maths fields only) and successful completion of our Aptitude Test
  • OR BTEC Diploma in IT and successful completion of our Aptitude Test
  • OR two years' experience in a relevant role and successful completion of our Aptitude Test

You may also have a combination of qualifications and experience which demonstrate the minimum foundation needed for the programme. In this instance you could still be considered for the programme.

If you hold international equivalents of the above qualifications, at the time of your application you must be able to provide an official document that states how your international qualifications compare to the UK qualifications.

Salary:

£16,000 per annum, with a guaranteed salary increase to £18,500 after 12 months.

Future prospects:

90% of QA apprentices secure permanent employment after completing: this is 20% higher than the national average.

QA’s apprenticeships are funded by the Education & Skills Funding Agency (ESFA), an executive agency of the Department for Education.
To be eligible for a Government funded apprenticeship you must have lived in the UK or European Economic Area (EEA) for the last 3 consecutive years.
