Role Overview & Responsibilities

We are seeking a motivated and enthusiastic person to join our existing dedicated team; this position will provide an opportunity to positively contribute to the successful delivery of the training programme for Trainee Technicians and existing staff. The postholder will be expected ensure all staff can demonstrate their competence knowledge and skills in a continually evolving decontamination service. The medical device decontamination service is key to the successful delivery of patient care within the hospital

This is a full time position which will be shared between Production and Training duties.

Production Supervisor 0.5Fte

The postholder must be proficient in all aspects of the Decontamination process working closely with the Production Manager, Production Supervisors and Quality Supervisor to ensure the continual compliance of departmental procedures whilst contributing to effective team working that will achieve the turnaround required for daily Theatre demands.

Trainer Supervisor 0.5Fte

As a Trainer Supervisor you will be expected to contribute to the development and implementation of the Training programme taking Trainee Technicians through their core responsibilities which includes the handling of surgical instruments through the decontamination process, from receipt, disinfection, inspection, packing, sterilisation and dispatch to the user.

All training carried out must be in full compliance with the requirements of IS0 13485:2016 Medical Devices.

Flexibility in this role is essential as shift rotation and weekend working will be required in order to meet future planned service expansions.

Applicants must:

  • Have extensive knowledge of medical device decontamination processes

  • Have proven experience in delivering competency based training

  • Be able to confidently demonstrate a sound knowledge base of instrumentation as well as the decontamination process

  • Understand and continually demonstrate compliance with the requirements of ISO13485:2016 Medical Devices

  • Be a good communicator demonstrating good interpersonal skills

  • Demonstrate good time management skills

  • Have successfully completed the Institute of Decontamination Sciences Technical Certificate or be working towards achieving. Or possesses equivalent knowledge and expertise in decontamination
