Laboratory Assistant We are currently looking to recruit a Laboratory Assistant to join the Genomics department of our award-winning business at Auchincruive, Ayr.
Based in a beautiful country estate near Ayr, our team supports the European, Middle Eastern, African and Indian (EMEAI) territories for Neogen Corporation, a top performing NASDAQ listed business employing over 2,000 people worldwide.
This role would suit at career entry level or someone looking to make a career change with good analytical skills and a good eye for detail. The work itself is vital and brings with it the opportunity to succeed and to progress with a great organisation which leads the market in its field.
Key Responsibilities include:
- Undertake and assist in the housekeeping activities within the laboratory.
- Participate in ancillary laboratory duties including daily, weekly and monthly cleans, waste management and stock management.
- Perform calibration and maintenance of lab equipment.
- Coordinate the movement of samples within the laboratory including receipt, lab storage, long term storage and sample pulls.
- Where required and in accordance with laboratory SOPs & the ISO17025 standard, assist in laboratory procedures.
- Author and maintain standard operating procedures as and when required, raise change requests when required to ensure that all documents are accurate reflections of actual practice.
- Maintain accurate records of all Genomics activities as directed by the Assistant Lab Manager Sample Reception & Extraction.
- Maintain an awareness and compliance with Neogen Europe’s Health and Safety policy and any other relevant legal requirements.
