Role Overview & Responsibilities
An exciting opportunity has become available to join a Professional Grooming Salon, complete a nationally recognised Level 2 Qualification and develop a rewarding career with dogs.
You will learn on the job a range of practical skills and knowledge including:
- bathing, drying & preparing a range of dogs as part of their groom
- handling dogs daily
- conducting health checks
- learning the procedures of a working salon
- learning about health & safety along with dog grooming regulations
As you become more proficient at preparing dogs within their groom, you will also learn:
- how to safely clip dog’s nails
- clip areas of the dog’s coat including sanitary areas & paw pads
- trim areas using scissors
You be responsible for adding your own notes to the dog’s that you help groom using the appointment software and you will be contributing to our social media pages and taking photographs/videos. You will be working alongside the manager to clean and maintain the dog grooming environment, along with cleaning and sanitising the tools and equipment after every dog’s groom. You will be required to complete a learning portfolio as part of the level 2 qualification and attend frequent online meetings with your training consultant. If you are 16 and over, this is a fantastic opportunity to learn new skills in the animal care industry, whilst earning.

- Be confident around dogs and in handling dogs
- Enjoy talking to people and have strong communication skills
- Be punctual, hard-working, self-motivated and reliable
- Be confident using technology and answering the phone
- Have a keen eye for detail and be creative
Qualifications
- Applicants MUST not already hold a grooming qualification to be eligible.
Training
- Full training to be provided by the employer and KEITS at the place of employment.
- The applicant will be working towards and gain a Level 2 Dog Groomer Apprenticeship
- The learner will be allocated an industry specific training consultant who will provide both remote and on site visits throughout the apprenticeship.
- The apprentice will work towards an End Point Assessment (EPA) at the end of their apprenticeship.
