We are currently seeking mid to senior level Java Engineers to join us at Freedom Finance.

What will you be doing?

As a Java Engineer, you'll work within one of the product development squads designing, building, and operating API & event-based microservices within our lending platform.

You’ll be joining a positive forward-thinking team of engineers with the goal to innovate, optimise and scale the capabilities of our platform. One thing is for sure, you’ll learn and grow expertise quickly in a highly collaborative team.

Experience

You'll be experienced in domain driven Java 8+ microservice API development with end-2-end ownership (e.g., build and run) in a containerised architecture. Ideally, you’ll be accustomed to working in a fast-paced entrepreneurial environment with a robust mindset toward building for production, while standardising and automating so we only focus on the valuable work over the repetitive.

Experience in the following technologies is highly relevant:

● Hibernate

● Spring Boot

● Jolt

● Kong

● Kubernetes

● Helm

● Redis, MySQL/RDS

● Kibana/Elastic

Other beneficial experience with AWS services: SQS, SNS, Lambda, and have good knowledge of data storage design and building for production scale.

Team

We like to create small cross-functional product squads working together on shared objectives. You’ll join one of these squads composed of approx. 6-8 people.

Our main office is based in Manchester, but we have a flexible work-from-home policy and can consider fully remote positions for the right candidate. It is nice to catch up in person now and again so the ideal candidate should be open to this.

We try to keep our interview process as simple and efficient as possible so that we can both make a timely decision about whether we align with each other’s interests and goals

We have a fast and effective three-stage interview process. Stage one is a short phone screen, while stages two and three are both face-2-face interviews (using MS Teams or in-person). This allows candidates to meet with the hiring manager, and other team members.
