Role Overview & Responsibilities

GENERAL PRACTICE NURSE

Dundonald | Hours negotiable

Salary: To be agreed depending on experience

Dundonald Medical Centre offers the highest standard of patient-centred healthcare from our established Medical Centre in Church Road, Dundonald. The practice has over 7350 patients. As well as a team of dedicated GPs, we have a friendly, supportive team of Managers, Nurses, Administrators, Secretaries and Reception staff.

We currently have a position for a Nurse to join our clinical team on a permanent basis. We are looking for a caring and enthusiastic person to provide and maintain a high standard of nursing care and assistance to our patients and Doctors. This is a superb opportunity for someone wanting to develop their general practice skills alongside a highly experienced team.

A flexible attitude to work and the ability to work well within a team and independently is required, along with the following Essential Criteria:

  • Registered General Nurse (currently with the Nursing & Midwifery Council)
  • Proven experience of simple wound management, basic procedures, e.g. Blood Pressures, venepuncture, urinalysis and handling samples, delivering injections and immunisations
  • Understanding the principles of clinical governance and evidence of best practice
  • Excellent interpersonal, verbal and written communication skills
  • Evidence of appropriate continuing professional development activity to maintain up-to-date knowledge and on-going competence

Desirable Criteria

  • Experience in management of long-term conditions e.g. asthma, COPD, diabetes, CHD
  • Experience of assisting in childhood vaccination clinics
  • Experience in Cervical Screening
