Bristol Zoological Society, the conservation and education charity that runs and operates Wild Place Project and conservation projects across the world, is recruiting a new Retail and Experience Manager.

We are looking for an experienced retail manager to lead the development of the retail offering (onsite and DTC) for Bristol Zoological Society, including buying, merchandising, and new product development.

You will also be the primary duty manager during opening hours at Wild Place Project, overseeing the effective management of any incident, including emergency situations.

What we are looking for:

  • Broad and extensive retail management experience, ideally within a busy visitor attraction
  • Experience in driving sales, improving service levels, managing cost control and delivering excellent customer experience
  • Excellent communication, decision making and a proactive approach to problem solving
  • Ability to motivate and inspire others

The successful candidate will be a motivated, hardworking and flexible individual, passionate about delivering world class customer service, placing visitors at the heart of how we think and what we do, ensuring personal interaction is second to none.

This is an exciting time to be joining the Society, with a new strategy in place to create a world-class Bristol Zoo with conservation and sustainability at its heart – to be built at the Society’s Wild Place Project site. The new Bristol Zoo will offer spacious, modern facilities, significant growth in our conservation and education work, and an innovative and exciting visitor experience.

The role will help to realise our vision of saving wildlife together, and you will be involved in supporting our transformation programme as plans for the new Zoo progress.
